Co-hosted by Dr. George Simon and Kristin Sunanta Walker, a new regular show segment on the Mental Health News Radio podcast unpacks myths and misinformation about narcissistic personalities while empowering listeners to protect themselves from manipulative people.
Asheville, North Carolina, January 1, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Mental Health News Radio Network is pleased to announce bestselling author, psychotherapist, coach and forensic expert Dr. George Simon as a co-host on its popular Mental Health News Radio podcast.
Dr. Simon brings decades of clinical experience to the topic of character disturbance. He calls it “a phenomenon of our time,” which few mental health professionals are trained to treat. Along with popular misconceptions about narcissism and other personality disorders, this lack of understanding about character disturbed people is what "Character Matters" aims to counter. "Character Matters" sheds light on how to keep safe around individuals who lack shame and empathy and who use, abuse and control without remorse. It also explores effective treatment options for these individuals.
Dr. Simon said, “My work is centered on empowering people. Empowering folks either in or trying to wrest themselves from toxic relationships and folks whose lives have been a shipwreck because of their underdeveloped character… You become empowered when: you know how to discern the various character disturbances; you know the typical ways or 'tactics' disturbed characters use to manipulate, control, and otherwise abuse you; you know how to challenge and respond to those tactics; You understand what's really wrong with these folks and what they really need in the way of intervention to be better; you know when the disturbance is too great, and your only real option is to walk away.” Drawing a clear divide between mental illness caused by biochemical imbalance and dysfunctions of character and personality, which can coexist, "Character Matters" will focus on specific tactics for dealing with manipulative people. It also explores what we can do to change ingrained dysfunctional patterns in our approach to love, life, and intimacy. "Character Matters" airs weekly on Mental Health News Radio. Recent episodes include Types of Narcissism and Does Character Matter? The show is available via Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spreaker and Binge Networks TV.
